PremierCare insurance changes

The information on this page doesn’t apply to PremierCare insurance policies. PremierCare insurance is no longer available for new customers.

IAG will transition existing PremierCare policies to new policies as they come up for renewal. This will start in January 2026. The new insurance policies will provide enhanced online features and functionality to manage your insurance policies. Policyholders will receive communications about their new policies before they are moved from their existing ones. If you replace or make changes to your PremierCare insurance before then, you may move to a new policy. For any queries relating to PremierCare insurance, please call the IAG team on 0800 808 618.

Choose a level of cover

Compare your policy options to help work out the right level of cover for your vehicle.

Comprehensive

Comprehensive cover provides the broadest protection, with cover for accidental loss or damage to your car, as well as damage you cause to someone else’s vehicle or property.

Third Party, Fire and Theft

Your car is covered if it is stolen or damaged in a fire, and you’ll be protected if you damage someone else’s vehicle or property.

Third Party only

You’ll be covered for damage you cause to someone else’s vehicle or property. However, you won’t be covered for your own car if it gets damaged or stolen.

Roadside Rescue

Roadside Rescue is an optional benefit that can be added to any car insurance policy. Assistance is available 24/7 for you or anyone driving your car. You’re eligible for up to 5 callouts in any insurance period.

Getting you back on the road

Roadside Rescue can help with minor repairs (where it’s possible and safe to do so) or other assistance to get you moving as soon as possible. This could include:

  • jump starting your car
  • changing a flat tyre
  • getting you back into your car if you’ve locked your keys in it
  • delivering and fitting a new battery
  • delivering up to 5 litres of petrol or diesel if your car is out of fuel.^

Towing to safety

In the event of a breakdown, your car will be towed to a repairer or the nearest safe place.^

If your electric vehicle runs out of battery, Roadside Rescue can deliver a fast charge, or tow you to the nearest charging facility. (Hybrids can be topped up with fuel or jump-started for a flat battery.)

We partner with IAG, New Zealand’s largest general insurer, to provide car insurance. As the insurer, IAG provides support, manages your policies, and looks after any claims.

Managing your insurance online

Manage your insurance through the secure IAG dashboard, by logging in to the BNZ app or Internet Banking.^

Once you’ve logged in, you’ll be able to:

  • request a call back from an insurance specialist
  • get a quote or buy insurance
  • update your sums insured, excess amount, and optional benefits
  • make a premium payment or change your payment plan
  • view and download your insurance documents
  • make a car, home, contents, or landlord insurance claim.
