How to apply for a BNZ credit card
Most BNZ customers can apply for a credit card through Internet Banking or the BNZ app.^
If you’re not a customer, you’ll have to open a transactional account with us before you can apply.

Ways to apply
Log in to Internet Banking
Not a BNZ customer
- You’ll need to open a transactional account with us first.
- Once you’ve opened an account, log in to Internet Banking or the BNZ app and select Apply now from the menu.
Joint accounts or non-residents
Call us on 0800 275 269 or visit a BNZ Branch if you:
- want to apply for a joint credit card (we’ll need to be in touch with both of you)
- are a non-resident living in NZ.
Before you apply
Check if you’re eligible
Before you apply for a credit card, check that you’re eligible. For example, you’ll need to be 18 years or older.
Gather your information
You’ll need to gather details about your financial situation, for example:
- income
- value of your assets
- regular expenses
- debts.
