Make the most of your KiwiSaver account

Making small changes to your KiwiSaver account, and ensuring you get your full Government contribution entitlement each year if eligible, could make a big difference to your future savings.

Adjust your contributions

Your level of contribution can have a big impact on your future savings. You can vary your contributions (3.5%, 4%, 6%, 8%, or 10% of your before-tax pay)^ or if you’re self-employed or not employed, you can set your own level and frequency of contributions.

If you qualify, you’ll receive 25 cents for every dollar you put in to your KiwiSaver account, up to the maximum Government contribution of $260.72 each year. This is paid as a lump sum into your KiwiSaver account each year after 30 June.
