Manage your cashflow

See the big picture of what’s coming in versus what’s going out, and whether you have a surplus or a shortfall. View weekly or monthly cashflow, with a breakdown of where the money came from and where it went. You can also set a weekly or monthly target to increase your surplus.

Track your spend

Track your spending across your accounts, see what kinds of things you spend your money on, and check your average daily, weekly, and monthly spend, and any changes over time.

Categorise your spending

Your transactions will be automatically categorised^, but you can change them and we’ll remember it for next time. So if you want your online streaming to come under bills instead of entertainment, just change it in the app. Easy.

Filter your spend by category

Filter transactions by category to see your spending habits and help you budget. You’ll be able to see how much you’re spending on things like bills, groceries, eating out, or entertainment.

Compare your categories

Compare up to five of your categories at once. You’ll be able to see where you’re spending the most (or least), or make your own comparison, so you can better understand what you’re spending your money on and when. 

Get deeper insight into your spend

Just tap on a category bar to see your category spend compared to last month, with a ranked list that breaks down the top merchants.

Getting started

To track your spending, you need the BNZ app and an eligible personal or joint transaction account,^ and a Flexi Debit Visa or credit card.

1. Join BNZ

If you’re not a BNZ customer, opening an account online is easy with RealMe or a New Zealand passport.

2. Register for Internet Banking

If you’re already a BNZ customer, you’ll need to be signed up for Internet Banking before you can access the BNZ app.
