  1. How to be eligible for student benefits:

To apply for student benefits, you will need to have any income direct credited to your YouMoney account and qualify under either of the following criteria:

    • Full or part time students and apprentices (enrolled in at least one paper per semester, for at least 12 months), while you are studying through an NZQA accredited tertiary provider

    OR

    • Those who have graduated from such a course within the past 12 months.

Your eligibility for student benefits expires 5 years after you apply, or 2 years after you graduate, unless you reapply, or discontinue studying (in which case you are no longer eligible for the student benefits).

  2. To apply for an overdraft, you must be 18 years or over and be a permanent NZ resident. Lending criteria and facility fees apply unless otherwise stated. Up to $1,000 interest free overdraft for first year students, $1,500 for second year students and $2,000 for third and subsequent year students and graduates. Once you are no longer eligible for the interest free overdraft, the bank’s prevailing Personal Overdraft Base Interest Rate (plus a customer margin set out in the Overdraft Agreement you have with us) will apply to the overdraft.

  3. YouMoney fee waiver/discount is available if you meet the student benefits eligibility criteria. Service fees may still apply. Terms and fees apply.

  4. $10 annual fee waived for the first 12 months when you get a BNZ Flexi Debit Visa at the time of opening a new YouMoney transaction account. After the first 12 months, you will be charged a $10 annual fee.
