Setting up Te Reo Māori

Te Reo in Internet Banking

English is the default language setting for Internet Banking. You can change this to Te Reo, or a learning option to show both Te Reo and English together. 

  1. Log in to BNZ Internet Banking.
  2. Click on Menu and select Settings.
  3. Click on the preferred language option,  English, Learning Te Reo, or Te Reo

Changing the language option to Te Reo won’t affect anything else on your desktop.

Te Reo in the mobile banking app

You can choose to display your details in either Te Reo or English. The Learning Te Reo option is not available in our mobile banking app.

iOS devices

  1. Make sure you have the most up-to-date version of the BNZ Mobile app installed.
  2. Open settings on your iOS device.
  3. Tap on General then Language & Region.
  4. Tap Other languages or Add language.
  5. Search by typing in Māori, then tap to select.
  6. Tap Prefer Māori.

Te Reo is a preferred language, not an iOS language. If you use any other apps that support Te Reo, you’ll see Te Reo for that app on your device. Your device operating system won’t change in any other way. 

Android devices

  1. Make sure you have the most up-to-date version of the BNZ Mobile app installed.
  2. Log in to your BNZ Mobile app.
  3. Tap on Settings then Language.
  4.  Select Te Reo.

Te Reo will appear only in the mobile banking app. Nothing else will be affected on your mobile device.
