Our Gas Transition Loan is part of a $1.2 billion scheme, backed by the New Zealand government. This facility is available until 30 June 2029.^

You can borrow up to $50 million on reduced interest rates for up to 5 years.

How it works

Eligibility check

We’ll check if your business and funding purpose fit within our eligibility criteria. You’ll need to be using 1000GJ+ of reticulated natural gas annually.

Evidence of funding purpose

You’ll need to provide evidence of what the funding is for and how it meets the scheme requirements. This could include engineering assessments, energy studies, quotes, invoices, or other supporting documentation related to the purpose.

Loan documentation

Once the lending is approved, we’ll document any pricing benefits and associated Gas Transition Loan requirements.

What you can use the loan for

Funding may be available for these eligible activities.^ For other uses, contact us to see if they’re eligible.

Energy efficiency

Upgrading systems and processes, including investments in:

  • process efficiency equipment
  • thermal recovery and reuse systems.

Fuel and asset switching

Purchase and installation of process equipment, for example:

  • electric and electrode boilers
  • heat pumps
  • biomass boilers
  • electric appliances.

Related infrastructure

Qualifying investments in associated infrastructure, including:

  • electrical, mechanical, and civil works
  • utility connection and supply upgrades
  • controls and automation
  • onsite energy generation and storage.
