Economy Robust to Dairy Wavers

New Zealand’s merchandise terms of trade fell just 1.9% in the final quarter of 2014. The market was looking for a bigger drop, of 3.0%, while we expected -3.2%. Robustness was also writ large in the quarter’s export and import volume results, supporting our view that Q4 GDP increased 0.9%, at a minimum.
