OCR Optionality

Thursday’s Budget should not distract from a number of other local news items this week, which may influence the markets. But, already, the Budget has thrown up a surprise, in the form of the government leaking its rule changes around housing taxation. These, along with the investor deposit policies announced by the Reserve Bank last week, aid the scope for the RBNZ to reduce its OCR in due course.
