How to authorise a payment using the BNZ Business app

 You can authorise most payment types in the BNZ Business app or Internet Banking for BusinessFollow these steps or use the downloadable guide PDF 721KB.

  1. Log into the BNZ Business app. 
  2. Tap Menu, then select Authorise payments.
  3. Tap on the payment you want to authorise. 
  4. If you are the first to authorise the payment, you'll see First authorisation. If you are the second to authorise, you’ll see Final authorisation. Tap which applies. 
  5. Tap Confirm to complete the authorisation.

Payment types you can authorise in the BNZ Business app

You can authorise a number of payment types in the BNZ Business app. This includes same-day cleared payments, direct credits, direct debits, payrolls, fund transfers, and bill payments. You can also create and authorise foreign currency fund transfers and one-off payments to any domestic bank account, including any New Zealand issued VISA, Mastercard and American Express (excluding Diners).

To view or authorise other payment types, please use Internet Banking for Business.

Managing and restricting users ability to authorise certain payment types in the BNZ Business app

Your business administrator can turn off the ability for users to be able to authorise certain payment types in the BNZ Business app. These are managed under the Administrator tab in Internet Banking for Business.

Your business administrator can turn off the ability for users to view certain account types in the BNZ Business app. These are managed under the Administrator tab in Internet Banking for Business.

Access to the BNZ Business app features outside of business hours

Approved users of the BNZ Business app will be able to use its features at any time, including outside of business hours.

Deleting payments

You won’t be able to delete payments in the BNZ Business app. If you need to delete a payment you’ll need to log in to Internet Banking for Business.

Internet Banking for Business logon via the BNZ Business app

At this stage you can’t access more than one Internet Banking for Business logon via the BNZ Business app. However, you’re able to log in to Internet Banking for Business for multiple organisations, authenticating yourself using the 6-digit code generated by the BNZ Business app. Please note that the ability to approve/deny a login using push notifications is limited to one organisation per device.

You can have users logged into Internet Banking for Business to create payments, while others are logged into the BNZ Business app to authorise payments.

If you require two authorisations for a payment type, both users can approve in the BNZ Business app if they have been given this permission by the administrator.
