New CFO announced for BNZ

Today, BNZ Chief Executive Officer, Anthony Healy, announced that Mandy Rutherford, the former Chief Financial Officer of one of Malaysia’s largest banks has been appointed as BNZ’s Chief Financial Officer. The appointment is effective from Monday 5 March 2018, subject to Reserve Bank of New Zealand non-objection.

Ms Rutherford is currently General Manager of Wealth Transition and Separation at ANZ in Melbourne.

Mr Healy said Ms Rutherford has a strong background in banking including five years as Chief Financial Officer at AmBank in Kuala Lumpur.

At AmBank, Ms Rutherford managed all financial aspects of the group’s operations including Strategy, Finance, External Reporting, Capital, Treasury, Investor Relations, M&A and Corporate Services.

Before leaving AmBank earlier this year Ms Rutherford held several senior roles including in retail banking as Chief General Manager responsible for the management of distribution channels, sales functions, wealth management and in the bank’s business transformation.

She has also held several senior positions at ANZ in Australia, including Chief Financial Officer Corporate and SME, General Manager of Deposits, Head of Savings and Investments and Head of Finance and Strategy for Products and Marketing. Ms Rutherford was also Managing Director of ANZ Samoa.

Ms Rutherford is originally from Hawarden in North Canterbury. She graduated from the University of Canterbury with a Bachelor of Commerce, in Accountancy and Business Administration and is a chartered accountant.

She has received several business awards including winning Best CFO (Investor Relations) and Best Investor Relations Team, for Malaysia at the 5th Asian Excellence Recognition Awards in 2015 and CFO of the Year, Malaysia, at The Asset CFO/Treasurer of the Year Awards in 2014.

Mr Healy said BNZ’s acting Chief Financial Officer, Peter MacGillivray, will stay in the acting role until Ms Rutherford’s appointment becomes effective.
