Transferring your outstanding balance to your BNZ Credit Card

Balance Transfer takes the current outstanding balance from another bank or finance company's credit or store card and moves it to your existing BNZ Credit Card.

• Transfer your credit or store card balance from another bank or finance company to a BNZ credit card before 31 March 2010, and pay only 4.99% p.a. on the balance transferred, until it’s paid off! Check out our handy balance transfer calculator to see how much you could save.*
• You can transfer the outstanding balance to a BNZ credit card from any New Zealand issued non-BNZ Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club, GE Creditline, Pacific Retail Group Finance cards, the Warehouse Financial Services credit and store cards, and Farmers cards. You cannot transfer a balance from another BNZ credit card. See current BNZ credit card interest rates
• There are no loyalty points or interest free days

How do I make a Balance Transfer?

• Simply download and print our Balance Transfer Form (PDF 236KB).
• Or, call us on 0800 800 667, and we will send you a form to complete.
• If you don't have a current BNZ Credit Card, you will need to complete an application.  You can apply online or call 0800 800 667 for an application form.

Credit limit increase

You can apply for a limit increase on your BNZ Credit Card through Internet Banking. Once logged in, select Other Services, then the Credit Card Services option. Alternatively, call us on 0800 800 667.

Adding a second cardholder

As the Account Owner, you can nominate an additional cardholder (14 years and over) to have a card issued on your account. Please note, you are liable for payment of credit and are bound by the use of the additional card. There are three ways in which you can add an additional cardholder to an existing BNZ Credit Card account. You can either:

• Apply online through Internet Banking. Once logged in, select Other Services, then the Credit Card Services option; or
• Call us on 0800 800 667, select option 4, and we can complete your application over the phone (we will need to speak to both you and the new applicant); or
• Make an appointment at your local BNZ store (you will both need to be present and will each need to provide some suitable form of photo ID)

Please note there is a second cardholder fee, charged half yearly. Fees are subject to change.

Upgrade to a Gold Card

To be considered for a BNZ Gold Card, call us on 0800 800 667 and one of our representatives will make the assessment over the phone. A minimum credit limit is required to process an upgrade; $4,000 for American Express; $5,000 for Visa and $6,000 for MasterCard.

Bill Payments

• By paying your bills through our 24 Hour Telephone Banking or Internet Banking facilities to BNZ registered companies using your BNZ Visa or MasterCard, you will benefit from interest free days if applicable and reward points if linked
• If you are using your BNZ American Express Card to pay with and/or the company that you make payments to is not on the registered list, the payment will be treated as a cash advance. A cash advance incurs a cash advance fee, interest and is not eligible to collect points
• Simply register for our 24 Hour Telephone Banking or Internet Banking facilities by calling 0800 ASK BNZ (0800 275 269). Then set up registered companies on your personal bill payment list
