Cover for your craft

Pleasure craft insurance is designed to protect vessels that are built for fun – from jet skis and fishing runabouts, right through to social yacht racing. Cover is for accidental and sudden loss or damage. 

It applies on all inland lakes and waterways, and all coastlines up to 200 nautical miles from the shores of New Zealand. Your vessel is also protected when it is being stored or transported within New Zealand.

Protect all things onboard

This insurance cover includes protection of any of the crew onboard the craft at the time of the incident, as well as cover for any accessories that are permanently kept onboard. 

Earn Fly Buys1 Points

You can collect Fly Buys1 Points based on the premiums you pay. Premiums can be paid fortnightly, monthly or annually.

Legal liability cover

You are protected for up to $5 million third party legal liability cover if you accidently damage other people’s property with your craft.

Multi-policy discounts

If you have PremierCare boat insurance plus PremierCare contents insurance, you’ll be entitled to a package discount. If you have more than one type of general insurance through BNZ, you may be entitled to a package discount. For example, if you have PremierCare contents, home, or motor vehicle insurance, you’ll save 10%.

Social yacht racing

If you are using your craft for social yacht racing within New Zealand and it suffers sudden or accidental loss while it is being used you will still be covered

Rescue costs

You and your crew are covered for up to $25,000 to cover the costs of being rescued anywhere in New Zealand. You also won’t have to pay any excess on a rescue claim.
