Making banking more affordable for under 30s

Smart Money is the everyday account designed for under 30s who have more important things to spend their money on than bank fees. If you're under 30 you'll pay no monthly base fee and there's no charge for your 30 most expensive electronic transactions each month2. Plus there's no fee for making deposits into your account3 and no charge for the first two staff-assisted withdrawals each month. Service and facility fees apply.

With your Eftpos Card or Flexi Debit Visa card, you'll have easy round-the-clock access4 to your money through EFTPOS and ATMs. You can also manage your money and pay bills at any time4 with our internet and telephone banking services. You can also apply for an overdraft1 to help out with unexpected expenses.

Small print

Account fees apply to transactions over 30. Service and facility fees still apply. See our Personal Account, Service and Facility Fees brochure. A month refers to the period from the last business day of the previous calendar month to the second to last business day of the current month.
  3. Fees for telegraphic transfers apply.
  4. Maintenance sometimes required.
  5. Fees are charged on the last business day of each calendar month and are based on the period between the last business day of the previous calender month and the second to last business day of the current month, inclusive.
  6. Payments into your account from other parties by way of BNZ Internet Banking, Automatic Payment or ATM are classed as Electronic Transactions.
  7. Government stamp duty charges for cheques apply. Cheque book facility fee of $1 per month applies.
  8. Debit interest charges also apply, minimum charge $1.00.

* Although the Telephone and Internet Banking and ATM services will normally be available 24 hours a day, maintenance of the system is required from time to time. Accordingly, certain options may not be available for an average of three hours a week. This maintenance, however, will be carried out at times which will cause the least disruption to you.
