Earn Airpoints Dollars and Status Points on every purchase
You'll earn Air New Zealand Airpoints Dollars on every purchase, even on everyday spend like groceries, petrol and travel mags. With Visa and MasterCard you'll collect 1 Airpoints Dollar for every $100 you spend on purchases. With an American Express card, your ability to earn points is 50% higher – 1.5 Airpoints Dollars for every $100.1 Your GlobalPlus Gold card purchases also contribute to your Air New Zealand Airpoints membership status. You'll earn 1 Status Point for every $250 in purchases and, for Silver or Gold tier status, up to half your Status Points can be earned this way. Different criteria apply for Gold Elite tier status.3
Fly within New Zealand or take off overseas
Airpoints Dollars allow customers to choose from every seat available for sale on every Air New Zealand ticketed and operated flight. You can use your Airpoints Dollars for Air New Zealand domestic flights, including grabaseat, as well as international flights with Air New Zealand and other Star Alliance members. However, the government and airport tax part of international flight tickets can't be paid with Airpoints Dollars. One Airpoints Dollar is the same as one New Zealand Dollar for flight purchases, so a $49 flight will cost 49 Airpoints Dollars.4
Airpoints Joining Fee Waiver
If you're not an Air New Zealand AirpointsTM Programme member don't worry, as we will automatically enrol you in the programme when you get a GlobalPlus card and the Airpoints joining fee will be waived.
Airpoints Advance of 100 Airpoints Dollars
If you're a little short on Airpoints Dollars, your GlobalPlus Gold card means you can get an advance of 100 Airpoints Dollars to help you reach your destination.2
International leisure travel insurance at no extra cost
You'll automatically receive GlobalPlus 35 Day Gold International Travel InsurancePDF 733KB if you use your GlobalPlus Gold card or Airpoint Dollars to pay some of your prepaid travel costs. For Australia or a Pacific Islands country, you'll need to pay $500 if you're travelling with your immediate family or $250 without them. For the rest of the world, the amount is $1000 ($500 without them). Cover applies for up to 35 days per overseas trip.5
Convert Fly Buys Points as well
If you collect Fly Buys, you can convert your Fly Buys Points to Airpoints Dollars!6 A minimum of 300 Fly Buys Points will get you 48 Airpoints Dollars and then for every 150 Fly Buys Points you convert after that, you'll get 24 Airpoints Dollars.
Manage your money
With up to 44 days interest free on your purchases, provided you pay the full amount of the outstanding monthly balance by its due date, using your GlobalPlus Gold credit card can help you to manage your money.
Low minimum payment in case you need it
Each month, you can choose to pay as little as 2% or $25 of your outstanding balance, whichever is greater. We recommend that you repay all or most of your outstanding monthly balance. But it's nice to know that the minimum payment option is there when you need a bit more flexibility.
Need cash in a hurry?
You can use your GlobalPlus Gold card to get a cash advance7 from ATMs here and overseas8. There's no interest-free period for cash advances, so using your credit card to borrow cash is just like getting an instant loan.

We also have world-leading technology, LEN Secure, that updates your Visa and MasterCard credit card information with every balance enquiry, mini statement or cash advance7 at a BNZ ATM. For GlobalPlus accounts opened prior to 30 March 2008, Airpoints Advance is available to the person who was the nominated earner as at 30 March 2008 and for accounts opened after 30 March 2008, Airpoints Advance is available to the original nominated earner when the GlobalPlus credit card account was first opened, and in each case, is the nominated earner at the time of requesting the benefit. If the cardholder holds more than one GlobalPlus branded card, s/he is only entitled to Airpoints Advance for the card which has the higher Airpoints Advance limit. Airpoints Dollars earned after the Airpoints Advance are first applied to repaying any negative Airpoints Dollars before contributing to any positive Airpoints Dollars balance. Failure to repay the Airpoints Advance will result in Air New Zealand closing the cardholder’s Airpoints membership account and Air New Zealand reserves the right to recover the monetary value of any outstanding Airpoints Advance.
Status Points earning rates are subject to change. You can earn up to half the Status Points you need to reach or maintain your Silver or Gold Airpoints tier status by making purchases on your credit card.
