Turning problems into opportunities
A true and inspiring tale.
We’d like to tell you a true and inspiring tale about a dairy farming couple, the Campbells (not their real names). Starting out in the 90s as waged workers with next to nothing, they now have equity in excess of $3million. So what’s their secret?
Well, the Campbells saw the opportunity for a large sharemilking contract with a Maori Trust on a new dairy conversion. The problem was, they lacked the security to buy the necessary Fonterra shares. And their bank promptly placed them in the proverbial too hard basket.
But one thing the Campbells aren’t light on is initiative, so they called the local Bank of New Zealand Agribusiness Manager. Now the thing that sets us apart is our bold new thinking. So where others had simply said no, he said ‘it can’t be that hard’. And the rest, as they say, is financial history.
The bold new thinking didn’t stop there. Soon the Campbells had a strategic plan stuck to their wall, having been sent by their Agribusiness Manager on a Farm First Growth Programme. And now, with over 100 hectares of prime dairy country, a brand new milking shed, lakeside property and a kiwifruit orchard, they’re sticking to it.
So if you like the sound of all that call your local Agribusiness Manager.
