Protecting our environment
Helping to keep New Zealand the way it should be.
We've fulfilled our commitment to become carbon neutral. It’s part of our determination to continually develop more sustainable and environmentally friendly ways of doing what we do.
We also recognise our responsibility as part of the local community to help protect our environment for all New Zealanders. Here are some of the things we’re doing to help.
Our sustainable buildings
Our newest major BNZ buildings were constructed with sustainability in mind. They’ve all attained a Green Star rating, so the environment will be better off.
Climate change
We take corporate responsibility seriously with a climate change strategy that covers sustainability, becoming carbon neutral and looking after the environment.
Our environment
Environment issues such as climate change, sustainability and becoming carbon neutral are at the top of our sustainable development agenda.
BNZ Kauri Forest
One Kauri bond issue plants 100 trees in the BNZ Kauri Forest. We’re bringing sustainability, climate change and other environment issues into the investment market.
Save the Kiwi
Our wildlife charity looks after kiwi and the forests they live in. BNZ Save the Kiwi Trust is an independent charitable trust, formed from the partnership between BNZ, the Department of Conservation and Forest & Bird.
Energy efficiency funding assistance through ENERGYWISE
No fees loans for energy efficiency (insulation and heating) purposes.
Did you know?
The BNZ Kauri Forest is located on the Coromandel Peninsula. We expect to plant at least 1000 seedlings every year. BNZ staff volunteer to help with the planting and we support the ongoing maintenance of the trees.
