Having some local cash on you when you arrive in a foreign
country is a great idea – even if it's just to get you from the
airport to wherever you're staying. Our exchange rates are competitive,
and we make it easy to order foreign cash online, and collect it from
the BNZ store of your choice. We even email you when your cash is ready
to collect.
Things you need to know
Ordering your foreign cash
If you're travelling to more than one country, you can order up to 10
different currencies.
Once you enter the amount you want into the online form, you'll see
an estimate in New Zealand dollars. This estimate is based on foreign
exchange rates applicable at the time, and includes the commission of
1% (minimum of $10 per currency). The actual amount you pay when you
collect your cash may be slightly different to this estimate, however,
as it'll be based on the foreign exchange rate on the day you actually
collect your foreign cash.
The minimum value of an online order is NZD250.
Collecting your foreign cash
Depending on which currencies you order and where you want to collect
from, it may take up to five working days before your cash is ready
to collect. Don't worry though, we'll email you when it's ready.
Picking up your foreign cash should just take a few minutes. You'll
need to bring in photo ID, along with whatever you need to pay for your
cash. (You can transfer funds from a BNZ account, use New Zealand cash
or EFTPOS cards or complete a cash advance on your Visa, Mastercard
or BNZ issued Amex credit card).
If you're going to collect your cash from our Christchurch Airport store
(which is opposite the International Check-in area), please make sure
you enter your flight number when you order your money.
